About us

        Composite Regional Centre for Persons with Disabilities (CRC), Davangere is a service modality initiated by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India. Since February, 2017 CRC functions with the objective of creating resources and infrastructure required for developing services for persons with disabilities in Karnataka. CRC functions as a resource center for rehabilitation and special education of persons with disabilities by providing clinical, special education services as well as undertaking human resource development and research activities.

        CRC provides rehabilitation services including early identification of disabilities and providing intervention for disability limitation; therapeutic services including occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychological counselling, guidance services, orientation and mobility training, speech and language therapy are provided to the persons with disabilities. Besides that, special educational services, vocational training and placement guidance services are provided to the persons with disabilities.

        Through ADIP scheme, CRC distributes assistive devices like mobility aids, communication aids, teaching learning materials. Prosthetic and Orthotic department designs, fabricates, customizes the appliances as per the requirement of persons with disabilities. CRC conducts ADIP assessment/distribution camps for the distribution of assistive devices to persons with disabilities.

        CRC renders academic services through Short-term and Long-term courses. To create mass-level awareness on disability and rehabilitation short-term training courses are being provided to Teachers, Anganwadi workers, Health workers, Paramedical staff, PwDs, Village Leaders, Government functionaries etc., In relation to long term courses, Department of special education will start Diploma/ Bachelors/ Masters courses in special education (Hearing Impairment, Intellectual Disabilities, Visual Impairment & Multiple Disabilities etc.,) and Diploma in Vocational Rehabilitation. Department of Audiology and Speech language pathology will provide relevant Diploma & Bachelor courses. Department of Clinical Psychology will start Post Graduate Diploma in Rehabilitation Psychology and M. Phil in Rehabilitation Psychology as well as M. Phil in Clinical Psychology. Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics will initiate Diploma and Bachelor courses in Prosthetics and Orthotics (BPO).
