Prosthetics and Orthotics unit works to enhance the functional status of the persons with disabilities by providing appropriate Prosthetics, orthotics and assistive devices. The Prosthetic and Orthotic department provides the following services.
1.Assessment and evaluation of persons with disability for Prosthetics, orthotics and assistive device prescription 2. Custom design, fabricate, and fit the orthoses and prostheses. 3. Provide training for the use of the orthoses and the maintenance of the same. 4. Follow up services including making necessary modifications of the given prostheses, orthoses & assistive device
Rehabilitation of persons with disabilities is a team work, where Centre of attention is given to the persons with disabilities. Prosthetics and Orthotics Professionals make the patient independent, confident and useful member of the society through comprehensive prosthetic and orthotic management. The following are the services provided by the prosthetic and orthotic unit.

2. | Lower extremity Orthotics: Persons having Post-Polio Residual Paralysis, Spinal Cord Injuries (paraplegic & Quadriplegic), Cerebral Palsy, knee & ankle contracture etc., will be given lower extremity orthotic appliance | 3. | Pedorthics: For persons having flat foot, foot ulcer, deformed foot, varus, valgus, equines, instability of ankle & foot, leprosy cured but with foot deformity & other ailment related to foot and ankle will be prescribed with Pedorthics |
4. | Upper Extremity Prosthetics: For persons having hand amputed at different levels: partial hand, wrist disarticulation, trans radial, elbow disarticulation, trans humeral, shoulder disarticulation amputee will be given upper extremity prosthetic appliance | |
5. | Splinting & Upper Extremity Orthotics For persons with disability such as Paraplegia, Quadriplegia, Cerebral palsy, leprosy cured but with hand deformity etc., will be given splinting upper extremity prosthetic appliance | |
6. | Spinal Orthotics (braces/ orthoses /corsets): Supportive Braces for spinal injuries (Quadriplegia, paraplegia etc.) Corrective & Supportive braces for spinal deformities (Scoliosis, Kyphosis etc.) | |
7. | Assistive and Mobility Devices like Wheel Chair: For persons with disability such as Quadriplegia, Cerebral palsy with quadriplegia, paraplegia mobility devices like wheel chair would be prescribed. |
